Alexandria Update

December 28, 2009
  • Ainsley is recovering well from her cold. Still coughing and runny, but much more herself.
  • I caught her cold on Christmas Eve and have been feeling pretty crummy. But with grandparents here, I get plenty of rest.
  • Scott went back home on Saturday. He started Christmas Camp today. He’ll be back on Wednesday night. Maybe Thursday morning. He misses us. Right, hunny?
  • We’ll go home for New Year’s. Rumor has it there will be some bowling with the Ginn’s. Rumor also has it that Ben and I will be battling for last place. Just like ping pong. I think we need to integrate some traditions that favor the talents of Ben and me a little more. Monopoly? Disney movies? Chili eating?
  • Ainsley has developed quite the affection for Etta, the Scottie dog. It’s mutual since Etta receives plenty of scraps from Ainsley.
  • Gramma Sharon left this morning. She and Ainsley became good friends over the weekend. What a precious time watching them play dollies and blocks.
  • Ainsley is a little disoriented. Throwing a few tantrums, crying before naps and bedtime. She’s tired from all this playing, cracker eating, and late nights. Hoping she goes to sleep now after crying a bit in her room.
  • Grace was here over Christmas. Bennett, while physically here, is on a 17-year old’s schedule: Eat, sleep, repeat. Oh, the good ol’ days. Pop Pop and Gramma GG are sleeping well, too, I’d imagine, after chasing Ainsley all day, everyday.
  • This is the first time Scott and I have been apart since…. well… for sure since Ainsley was born; maybe longer. We miss him. Thank goodness for texting. Otherwise, how could I tell him all the important things, like “I’m watching ‘Billy Madison,'” and “Time to take a nap.”?
  • If you haven’t read the last post “Come and See” — please do. I know it’s a little long and Christmas has passed, but it’s one of my favorite Christmas readings. And it’s not too early to start thinking about next year. Christmas is only 360+ days away. 🙂

    We miss you all.
The smudges on the windows remain at shin level.
The dogs still sniff around looking for oyster crackers and cheese sticks.
The nativity angel waits to have her wings glued.
The tree remains bare on its lower third.
    Christmas really IS over.
Dad announced that today is National Nesting Day in Canada so we are still in jammies too.
