One Year Ago Today

August 20, 2009

August 20, 2008

A date we had scribbled on calendars, in thank you cards, medical forms, and lists of baby names.

A date that we repeated a hundred times a week to co-workers, friends, and total strangers.

A date our parents memorized at Christmas 2007.

A date that meant these two who had become one would suddenly become three.

*****

Although our little Gizmo waited another whole week past this due date, we will always remember August 20 as the date we had been anticipating all those long months. And now it marks the one-week countdown to Ainsley’s birthday every year.

Just as we savored each day leading up to Gizmo’s arrival on August 27, so we will now treasure each moment leading up to Ainsley’s birthday. After all, today is the only day she’ll ever be 11 months and 3 weeks old. And tomorrow the only day she’ll ever be 11 months, 3 weeks, and 1 day old…

We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.

Love the post and the “flashback” to last year.
You AND Gizmo looked GREAT in your “Due Date” photo!
What a difference a year makes!

Celebrate EACH day as you parent.
Its a “calling” to love being a mom…and a dad.

    Love you all!
