Baby Shower

August 1, 2008

Alisha threw another fabulous baby shower for me one week ago today. My mom and sister came early on Friday to clean up my house (the location for the party) and help with food preparation while I worked and ran errands. Jen also helped out with games and other behind-the-scene details.

Alisha: hostess, boss, and friend.

We enjoyed a “Good Earth“-ish chicken salad on a bed of field greens, lots of breads and spreads, and fresh fruit. Yum! We also played the “bib” game. At the beginning of the night, we each got one bib. For the rest of the night, we were not allowed to say the word “baby”; if anyone caught you saying the word, they could take your bib.

I lost right away.

Becky managed to collect SIX bibs during dinner. It seemed her victory was at hand. Oh… but wait! She said “babysitter” and “baby”! She did not take her defeat well.

Becky, Kate, and Chrissy

Eventually Grace won (she could go for weeks without talking!) with seven bibs.

Then it was more games and presents! Baby Anna Grace and Shana watched as I enjoyed each gift.

Sisters… Sisters…

Grace and I had gone fabric shopping back in April. She loaded up on gender-neutral and super adorable fabrics to make a special baby quilt just for Gizmo. I was FINALLY able to see the finished product at the shower. And I love it! (P.S. Grace designed and made her party dress. Don’t tell her I told you.)

At one point, Jen made a comment that resulted in the following scenes:

Jen, Katie, and Mommo (she’s the one falling off her chair)

We ate some dessert — brownies ANDstrawberry shorcake — and called it a night. I can’t wait to get everyone together again to meet Gizmo!

“Roommate Moment: Six Years Later” — Jen, Becky, and me

“Can you believe we’ve known each since 8th grade?!” — Kate, me, and Chrissy

Grandma Mommo and Gramma GG… ready and waiting to cuddle baby Gizmo!

Alisha, Mom, Grace, Mommo, Katie, Jen, Becky, Kate, Chrissy, Shana (and Anna), and Meg and Emma (who couldn’t be there): thank you, dear friends, for sharing in our joy during this special time in our lives. We are blessed by your love and friendship!

    Too Too TOO FUN!

I’ve tried to “share” the stories with your father and brudder,
but something gets lost in “translation.”

Soooo glad I was able to share in the fun!
