Update: Mama and MckMuffin
I wanted to provide you with a brief update regarding Mama and MckMuffin.
Still a rollercoaster of good news/bad news, mom and baby are seeing some improvements. The family decided to find out the baby’s gender and give the baby a name. Stellan (aka MckMuffin) is their third son. His heart block disappeared (another ECHO today will hopefully show that this is still the case), and Mama’s heart, while still not perfect, is not as at-risk as it was earlier this week.
Doctors have started administering steroids to help Stellan’s lungs develop should he need to be born early (he’s 23 weeks). They have also told the family that Stellan’s chances of living are 50/50, which is MUCH improved from yesterday’s reports.
A few more ways to pray:
- Connectedness to family.MckNugget (her second son) has his 2nd birthday on Friday. Mama’s having a very difficult time being away from her other three small children, especially during a birthday. Pray that as she marks day 6 in the hospital (with many more days ahead) that she will feel a new and special connection to her children and husband.
- Stellan’s heart and body. That the steroids would strengthen his lungs and that his heart would remain block-free and find regularity. That his body would not be filling up with fluid but that his heart would work just right.
- Mama’s heart, spirit, and body. That the medications would not adversely affect her heart or body as they try to meet MckMuffin’s needs. That her mind would not be deceived into believing that this is her fault or that she’s “in the way.” That she be filled with hope and faith.
