Scott headed out for camp at about 6:45 this morning. He will work until at least 8:00 tonight. Thus begins the whirlwind that is Gospel Hill Summer Camp 2008.
Staff moved into camp yesterday. Staff training runs through the week and consists of everything from CPR and First Aid training (which Scott conducts) to waterfront safety to team building activities to eating hot dogs at our house on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, Scott also needs to find the time to return phone calls and emails, manage the ministry center and rentals, and continue to accept and reply to registrations from campers.
The real fun begins next Monday when Day Camp kicks off. It’s also the first day on the job for the new Ministry Center Coordinator, who will need to be trained in by Scott and start managing all uses of the Ministry Center.
This puny blog cannot begin to explain the way Camp takes over Scott’s brain and all the responsibility he has during the next 2 and 1/2 months.
As for me, I am just going to try to serve and bless my husband in any way that I can. Tonight, I’ll get home and do dishes, laundry, and ironing. I also have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to getting the yard work done… More on that tomorrow.
We covet your prayers as we maneuver this brief but overwhelming season of camp along with the equally brief and occasionally overwhelming remainder of our pregnancy. Camp ends August 15. Gizmo is due August 20. This summer’s gonna be interesting…
