A little encouragement

With full understanding that all things are in God’s control and happen according to His perfect plan, I am trying to get Gizmo to hurry up. Yeah, ultimately it’s really not up to Gizmo or me when he/she arrives, but I figure a little encouragement can’t hurt. Plus, it is a way for me to stay busy and distracted.

Other than just telling Gizmo, “C’mon, Gizmo. Let’s get going,” I am walking for about 2 hours (with lots of water, bathroom, and rest breaks). I’m doing my best to eat spicy foods; we ate Kung Pao at Pei Wei last night. I am watching feel-good movies like Holiday Inn, Elf, and later today You’ve Got Mail (see this post to catch up on my love for that movie). I’m also scheduling a pedicure because apparently there are pressure points in your feet and ankles that somehow encourage labor.

Scott is also planning a date for us tonight (with spicy food, of course!), which is multi-purposed in that it is fun, distracting, and romantic. Something like this can help release the ”love hormone” called oxytocin, which can help induce labor (it has the same properties as a drug, Pitocin, given to induce labor). Although I suppose that stinky breath from spicy hot burritos could work against the release of  oxytocin… hmm….

On an unrelated note, what’s your favorite flavor of ice cream? Mine is Tin Roof Sundae. But if I got to pick two more favorites, they would be Coffee and Strawberry. Oh, and if you get to the MN State Fair this year, I highly recommend gelato (Italian ice cream). Yum!

So what’s your favorite flavor (or three)?

Perhaps a trip to the State Fair would induce labor…there have to be foods (and enough walking) to do the trick! Besides, ALL the best ice cream and gelato flavors are available! My favorite is mint chip ice cream and mint gelato (like the mint thing).

Dahdee and I used to treat ourselves to Iowa’s Blue Bunny brand
of Tin Roof Sundae, except we called it “Tin Bucket.” More specifically I called it that since I rarely remember much.

I’m all over Deanne’s Fox-Something-Or-Another flavor which is
delicious but apparently causes weight gain when eaten in mass quantities.

Treadmill? Spicy foods? Pedicure? ….still no Giz?

I’d say Giz has a bit of Auntie Grace’s stubborn streak already.

    Wink….

Ice cream – oh yeah! Favorite is Coconut Joy (like Almond Joy candy with vanilla ice cream), but I just had Cherry Chocolate Chip yesterday with my aunts and that is pretty nummy, too. And of course, the other favorite is Black Licorice ice cream.

We recently learned that LaMars, Iowa is the ice cream capital of the world and where Blue Bunny ice cream is made – can’t wait to go on that road trip.

I think you should go to the fair, too – that’s sure to do something for Gizmo.

In addition to working against the release of oxytocin, stinky breath from the burritos could work against the romance on your date also.
Ice Cream Favorites (I need room for 5):
    1. Coconut Joy (like mommo)
    2. Peppermint Bon-Bon (or Girl Scout Cookie Blizzard)
    3. Maple Nut
    4. Rocky Road
    5. Waffle Cone
I’m banking on Gizmo enjoying all five.

I’m always up for the Girl Scout Cookie Blizzard, too! Yum!

    Oh so many…
Own concoction – crushed pretzels over vanilla ice cream with hot carmel sauce
Store bought – “Haagen-Dazs lover” from way back; Carmel Cone is my recent discovery. I only treat myself on special occasions or when I mow the lawn without help.

I would like to know where Mommo and Rick find Coconut Joy??

How about Father-of-the-Bride II? It may not distract you from your condition , since there are two pregnant woman, but should provide some good belly-laughs. Just don’t let anyone do to Scott what Franck did to George with the sleeping pills… face on power-window is my favorite part. I’ve got a VHS copy if you’re interested.

    Love to you All

    Dear Rosie,

Your love of Tin Roof ice cream has its roots in Iowa. It was your Mom’s and I’s favorite and because of that it is your favorite too!

I thought of a better name for the boy:

    Arnold Ronald

    Then you could call him:

    A-ron

    Just a thought….but its PRITTY-GOOD!

    Keep walking.
    Keep thinking good thoughts.

And for GOODNESS SAKES HAVE THIS BABY!

    Love,
    A NERVOUS Big Poppy

Coconut Joy is found at Bridgemans and also at Cub – a new brand that I can’t remember the name of.

Janet….you have the “roles” mixed up.

    Big Poppy is Rick
    Pops is Ron, Scott’s dad
    Mommo is Dana, Scott’s mom
    Mamamama is me, Amanda’s mom

However, THAT being said, Rick or Big Poppy will EAT ANY
    KIND of ice cream!

    wink

By the way, Auntie Janet….Gizmo’s birth will make you what?…

    A GREAT Fairy Godmother?….

    GG

    Ooops!

Thanks Dana… I’ll look for it at Cub. Almond Joy and Mounds are my favorite candy bars. You had me on the WORD coconut.

I’m so excited for you all.
